Welcome to the ninth edition of QIECC Community News. I wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians and Elders both past and present.

Arkie - a young, talented Year 10 Indigenous artist studying at the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries.

Local Aboriginal Artist - Uncle Lloyd Hornsby and Undurba State School

Uncle Lloyd is part of the Bunyabilla Elders Group and Community Incorporated and spent some time at Undurba State School teaching cultural awareness through art.

QSA Workshops - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives

The QSA have once again produced a series of free workshops with the goal of embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives in curriculum and whole of school planning.  Please read for dates and further information.

Southside Education, an independent school in Sunnybank, has been recognised with a major national education award.

Trenae Jia - Special Acknowledgement, National NAIDOC Awards Recipient

Trenae Jia is a Year 6 student who enjoys writing stories and poetry.  One of Trenae's stories "How all the Bush Animals became Friends" is featured.

New Appointment to the Queensland Catholic Education Commission

Dena Dodd-Ugle as been appointed Indigenous Education Pathways Project Officer with the QCEC.
