2007 QIECC INAUGURAL ANNUAL FORUM - TRANSITIONS
17-18 October 2007, Surfair Resort - Marcoola Beach, Sunshine Coast
More than one hundred and fifty people from across Queensland, and interstate, gathered together on Gubbi Gubbi country for the QIECC Inaugural Annual Forum.
The Forum brought together a wide array of education and training stakeholders including members of the wider Indigenous Queensland community as well as delegates from as far as Alice Springs, Melbourne and Adelaide, to share knowledge and information about practices that have improved Indigenous education and training outcomes.
The event included keynote speakers, showcases of what works well, presentation of papers, open discussion groups and celebrations.
QIECC Chair Ms Gina Archer noted " Delegates really immersed themselves over the two days in the workshops and presentations....there was some incredible networking, discussions and linkages made between institutions, departments, businesses, committees and individuals all in the name of fostering greater outcomes for Indigenous students throughout Queensland."
The QIECC expresses its sincere gratitude to all presenters, speakers, and delegates for their contribution to the success of this milestone event.
As a commitment from the Forum, a Communiqué was developed to inform the Queensland Minister for Education, Training and the Arts and the Commonwealth Minister for Education, Employment and Workforce Relations of the Forum findings. A DVD of highlights from the Forum has also been produced.
